The Show: Burberry Prorsum Fall 2013
The Theme: Exotic, High Shine
The Color Palette: Various shades of khaki, black, bordeaux, chartreuse, gunmetal
The Collection?s Best Look:? In a lineup rife with patchwork animal prints, thick see-through sleeves, large metal cuff ornamentation, and grommets galore, designer Christopher Bailey certainly didn?t play it safe, however the bang for the buck pieces, i.e. the trenches, showed some options that are practical enough to be copied 1000 times over and coveted by women around the globe for many seasons to come, such as the soft, pale khaki, bottom-grommeted piece, cinched at the wait with a looped skinny metal belt and accompanied by over-sized shiny metal buttons.
The Show: Tom Ford Fall 2013
The Theme: Through minimalism to the sidelines
The Color Palette: Black & white, sky blue, sunshine yellow, coral
The Collection?s Best Look: More is more is more appeared to be Ford?s mantra for fall 2013; he went for a ?cross cultural multi ethnic? layering on superfluous shapes, ones after the other, with bursts of zig-zags, laser cut lace, dribbles of fur, and wild animal print, it was certainly a departure from the more reserved and well-tailored designs we are used to seeing. Feeling a bit late 90s, from his Gucci days, key takeaways from his looks include the reverse front swoosh hemline (as opposed to a clean pleat in the back) the dizzying array of black and white combinations, and finding a way to hold baggier, loosely cut garments on the body and looking sexy ? a silhouette that takes some adjusting of the eyes, and wardrobe.
