10:09 a.m. ? Police arrested Michael Langley, 21, of Providence Street in West Warwick, for evading a taxi bill on Dec. 27, 2012. He was arraigned at Kent County Courthouse and sentenced to one year suspended sentence/probation and restitution of the cab driver. He was also sentenced to 30 days at the ACI for probation violation.
11:12 a.m. ? The collections manager for Newport Biodiesel told police someone had been stealing from vegetable oil grease collection bins at various businesses, including two bins at 1000 Division Street since Dec. 1. Between the two collection bins, he estimated approximately 800 gallons of grease have been stolen. Newport Biodiesel pays Dave?s $1.40 a gallon for the grease and sells it for about $2 more. Thefts have also taken place at Pinelli?s Restaurant in West Warwick, where a photo taken on Jan. 28 showed a Ford Econoline van in the area of the collection bin. Police were asked to check behind 1000 Division Street during overnight shifts.
Friday, Feb. 1
3:57 p.m. ? Police arrested Alexander Anusavice, 20, of Shady Hill Drive, on a suspended license after he was stopped on Love Lane in Warwick. EG Police were working with Warwick PD because of a recent spate of breaking-and-enterings near Division Street. After Anusavice picked up a woman standing by the side of the road on Division Street, police followed him onto Love Lane. They stopped him after he made an abrupt left turn into a driveway. Routine checks turned up the license suspension. He was released with a court summons and a passenger drove the car from the scene.
7:17 p.m. ? A customer of Gold?s Gym reported a missing pair of work boots that he?d left atop his locker. The boots were valued at $350.
Saturday, Feb. 2
10:50 a.m. ? Police investigated around Adirondack and Frenchtown roads on a report of debris in the road from a possible hit and run accident. Police saw a driver had lost control while making a right turn on Adirondack from Frenchtown, climbing up the curb.
9:11 p.m. ? Police arrested Samantha Paul, 21, of Potters Avenue in Warwick, for driving with a suspended license after she was stopped while driving on Main Street because one of her car?s headlights were out. Routine checks turned up the license violation. Police gave her a court summons and told her to come to the police department for processing before her court date.
Sunday, Feb. 3
1:54 a.m. ? The owner of Greenwich Liquors on South County Trail told police a dumpster had been emptied behind his building and he suspected the disposal company that owned the dumpster had done it. The dumpster company was contracted with another tenant of the building. When police talked to a representative of the dumpster company, he admitted dumping the contents, but he said it was because the majority of the contents had been placed there by the Greenwich Liquors. He said he refused to pick up the contents so police cited him under the town ordinance for illegal dumping.
5:33 p.m. ? Police arrested Gregory Pettis, 33, of Warwick, for driving with a suspended license after he was stopped for driving without a seatbelt on Main Street. A routine check turned up the license suspension. Pettis was issued a court summons and told to go to the EGPD for processing before his court date. A friend arrived to drive the car from the scene.
